Early this morning (before school), our head custodian could smell smoke in the building. The fire department was immediately called to ensure that the building was safe. Upon investigation, they learned that a soldering iron in the tech room was the cause and that, luckily, there was very minimal damage. The firefighters and custodial staff used ventilation and fans to air the classroom area out. The fire department performed an air quality check and confirmed that the readings were in the normal range. Intermediate students normally scheduled to have class in the tech room have been relocated to the library today as we clean out the smell of smoke more comprehensively.

Other than a lingering scent of campfire, school has continued as normal, with students and staff safely learning.
